Introduction

This Special Educational Needs (SEN) policy outlines the commitment of our online training centre to ensure equitable access and support for all adult learners, including those with special educational needs. Our goal is to provide an inclusive learning environment that addresses the diverse needs of our adult students.


Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that:

  • All adult learners have access to a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Adult learners with SEN are identified, supported, and provided with appropriate accommodations.
  • Staff members are aware of their roles and responsibilities in supporting adult learners with SEN.
  • The online learning environment is accessible and inclusive for adults.


Definition of SEN

Special Educational Needs refer to any learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for an adult individual to learn compared to other learners of the same age. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Dyslexia
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Visual or Hearing Impairments
  • Emotional and Behavioural Disorders


Support and Accommodations

Our online training centre is committed to providing a range of support and accommodations to meet the diverse needs of adult learners with SEN. These may include:

  • Modified course materials and resources
  • Extended time for assignments and assessments
  • One-on-one tutorials
  • Flexible scheduling and pacing


Monitoring and Evaluation

The progress of adult learners with SEN will be regularly monitored and evaluated to ensure the effectiveness of the support provided. This involves:

  • Regular reviews of the IEP
  • Feedback from learners, and tutors
  • Adjustments to support strategies as needed


This SEN policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and to incorporate any changes in legislation or best practices. Feedback from learners, family members, and staff will be considered in the review process.
