Expand your professional expertise with our Certificate in working with CYP which is accredited by the CPCAB. This specialised program is designed for those looking to deepen their understanding of working with CYP and apply its principles effectively in various clinical and educational settings.

Course Overview

Our comprehensive curriculum covers the foundational theories and techniques for working with CYP, equipping you with practical skills to support children and young people in overcoming challenges related to anxiety, depression, phobias, and other mental health issues. Through interactive workshops, case studies, and supervised practice, you will gain first hand experience and confidence in working with CYP.

The course is scheduled to begin in 2026. It consists of one full day of training each week over a 6 month period. After completing these sessions, participants will have an additional three months to fulfil practice hours, complete any outstanding coursework, and meet the assessment requirements. This flexible timeline is designed to accommodate your professional commitments and ensure a smooth learning experience throughout the programme.

This certificate is ideal for mental health professionals, counsellors, educators, who has a diploma level 4 or above in counselling and anyone interested in enhancing their therapeutic skills to better support children and young people struggling with mental health challenges.

Fees & Costs

The course fees for 2025/2026 are £1,245.00, plus the CPCAB candidate registration fee £195. Course fees are non-refundable. By booking a place on the course, you are agreeing to these terms.

A non-refundable £500 deposit is required to secure a place, to be paid at time of booking. The total fee for our Children and Young People (CYP) course is £1,440.00. We offer a payment plan to help you manage your investment:

  • A deposit of £500 is required to secure your place.

  • Following the deposit, there are 5 further payments of £188 each, due on the 1st of the following months.

Due to the length of the course we can only split the cost over 5 months.

This payment structure allows you to spread the cost in instalments while securing your spot on the course.

Work Requirements

All candidates are required to provide 30 hours of face to face work with children & young people and receive clinical supervision for their practice hours.  

 

Candidates are expected to work with CYP using the skills learned. Details of the agency should be discussed with the personal tutor as soon as possible after the course has begun. Any supervision costs associated with any placement will be payable by the candidate. 

Guidelines for your supervision hours will be provided, and guidance can be found on the CPCAB website.  

Assessments

Assessment will be by way of tutor Internal Assessment of your portfolio. (The external assessment requirement has been withdrawn by CPCAB).

Application Process

  • Fill in the online application form below and send your personal statement to info@globaltherapytraining.com

  • If you meet the initial entry requirements we will offer you a conditional place on the course and send you a Training Contract.

  • To accept your offer of a place you will need to sign and return your Training Contract together with a £500 non-refundable* deposit.

  • We will then seek a reference from your clinical supervisor and arrange an interview with one of the course tutors.

* The deposit is non-refundable unless either i) the course is cancelled or ii) The supervisor reference is not satisfactory/the interview is not successful. In these cases a refund will be issued.
